Rabbi’s Shmooze
My brother Yudi spent the week with us doing Camp. I will let him speak today.

What's New @ Chabad

CAMP GAN ISRAEL OLDER DIVISION ROUND UP

WOW! What a smashing…bashing week we had. Starting with praying and a lesson about kosher we went on a kosher hunt in Weis trying to find things that are kosher. Congrats to Camper J.W. and B.D. for winning the kosher hunt. After looking at all that food we had a delicious lunch of cheese ziti. Then we picked sweet ripe peaches, good eye to camper B.D. for picking the biggest peach. Then a grand game of Ultimate in the park which campers T.W. and H.C. won 2-0. We then headed back to the Chabad house for arts and crafts – beautiful pushkas, and ice cold freeze pops for the ride back to York.

On Tuesday, we learned about Safrut, the art of writing sacred objects like mezuzah, Torah, & Tefilin. We saw Mezuzahs and the Megillah that counselor Y.G. started writing, slowly carefully we watched as Co. Y.G. wrote our names on special parchment with his feather and ink. We then had 2 chess games. While Ca.T.Y won one game it took 4 draws for Ca. J.W. to beat his opponent. Good Job Weiss Bros.

After delicious lunch of chicken nuggets and mashed potatoes and corn on the cob and honey dew we headed towards… the Castle. Round and Round the rink we went, falling lots of times, the funniest was when Co. Y.G. fell right in front of everyone trying to get off the rink. Good Job to Ca. H.C. for being our Limbo Champ.

Wednesday we went to Hershey park after learning class. We took off in Air Chabad 2000 and landed in Hershey Park. First we did the chocolate tour, (which was Ca. H.C. favorite part of the park) and then we went on a bunch of rides in the park. Lunch was turkey sandwiches and P&J sandwiches.

Thursday we went to a paper clip hunt after learning classes to collect as many paper clips that grew in the field. We then made a long chain. Congrats to Ca. J.W. and B.D. who made the longest chain ever. Lunch was pizza and French fries followed by laser tag at the LaserDome. Everyone had a blast teaming up and then changing their mind. Sergeant Decker was especially noticed at his warfare tactics. We played arcades and got prizes and free ice water.

Friday already, whew. The week Flew by. Starting with Learning classes BOY why are there so many empty chairs. We baked challah and had a Shabbat Sand Art Craft. We had lunch of Spaghetti and Meatballs and went to the Maizing Maize. Boy, we got lost a million times. My head is spinning from going around in circles. Finally we got out.

Last trip to York, Have a good Shabbos.

P.S. It was great spending a week with you guys, have a great school year.

Yours truly,

CO. Y.G.
