How I lost 25 Pounds

I took MM (Menachem Mendel, my son) to the doctor last week.

He was not a happy camper.

Cried, kvetched, squirmed, crawled and stood whenever they tried to take any kind of measurements.

Height, weight...

Don't even ask about taking his temperature!

The sympathetic looks from the people in the waiting room told me that his screams were heard all over the building.

Anyway, in an effort to calm him down,

I took him in the room by myself, played with the water, the tongue depressors… It seemed to work.

I then noticed the scale. I haven’t weighed myself in about 6 months, so I wondered….

To my shock, I gained 25 pounds!

I asked the Doctor what I should do about my weight, he answered “You spend all day not 10 feet from a treadmill, get on it once in a while…”

– Not the answer I was looking for.

I got home, got on my scale, and then told Shira, (my wife) that our scale is broken, because it is saying that I weighed 25 pounds LESS than the doctor's scale.

She looks at me and says “Were you holding Menachem Mendel when you were in the doctors office?”

In the words of Homer – Doh!

When I told my doctor, he called me a “bonehead”.

Bottom line – to lose 25 pounds, put down the baby.- Rabbi E
